Polyurethane foam air conditioning ducts are a viable alternative to insulated galvanized sheet metal. The material used to manufacture the panels is 2-centimeter-thick polyurethane foam. The advantages of this foam include its extreme lightness; it weighs about one-eighth as much as traditional products. The panels are clad with aluminum on both the inside and outside.
